Does The Media Profit From Destroying The Human Soul?

This week, Dr Kevin and Olivia Stefanino discuss the media. Is it really destroying the human soul just to make a profit? At one time, TV networks presented an unrealistically idea portrait of the American family through shows such as Leave It To Beaver. And stories that made people feel happy and inspired were a regular part of the news. But now, with gentle shows such as Candid Camera being replaced with demeaning and cruel shows such as Punked, has the pendulum swung too far in the other direction? Are TV producers looking for ways to bring out the worst qualities in people just to make a profit? And why are so many people glued to their TVs to watch this sort of entertainment? Are their own lives so boring that they gain satisfaction from seeing other people be degraded? And what makes people want to take part in this type of program?
The statement is: “We have created a media that profits by destroying the human soul.”
Is this statement a diamond in the rough? Fertilizer with which to grow? Or a load of crap?
